Island Hand Therapy at the MARPAC Expo 2014, Naden

Abbie and Clare spent Thursday, February 6 at the MARPAC Expo explaining about hand therapy, testing grip strength, and greeting members who had been clients previously.  It was lots of fun and a change from our normal routine.

Congratulations, Nicole

Congratulations Nicole,Jeremy and Dylan on the birth of your daughter/sister on July 3, 2012. Samara Grace was 8lbs 6 oz at birth.

Inservice on the RJH Pain Clinic

A number of the therapists from the clinic and a student had an in-service to learn more about the Pain Clinic at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Linda and Sharon joined us to speak about the resources and access to their program. We left the session feeling that we had made an excellent contact that we would be able to use to benefit our clients with chronic pain problems.

Doctors Demystify the Finger Joints

On Saturday, March 10, Kamal and Clare joined about 30 hand therapists in Vancouver for a course on anatomy and pathology of the finger joints. It was an excellent overview particularly from the medical perspective.

Sidney Office Facelift

During the Christmas season, Josh McCulloch built us a new office space with a built-in desk, cupboards and filing system.

Staffing Changes

Over the past year we have had a number of staff changes.

Tim has left this area and moved to Kingston. He has been working in the Canadian Forces Physiotherapy Department covering for a maternity leave. He has purchased a house and a dog, and is enjoying his time there.

Raman joined us to help cover Nicole's maternity leave, working in Sidney and Victoria. She, unfortunately had to return to the lower mainland for a while, so left the clinic last fall.

Shevaun started working in the Victoria clinic to give us coverage for the late hours, and will now be leaving us mid March.

Starting in January of 2012, Nicole has given us Saturday coverage, which has been popular. This is a trial until June, and we will re-evaluate it at that time.

The Victoria office staff has seen one change: Margaret Karra replaced Amber.

Congratulations, Christina on the birth of your second daughter, Georgia Moon on January 6, 2011. She was 7lbs 5oz.

Congratulations, Kamal, on achieving your Certified Hand Therapist Qualification. This is a difficult exam, so a worthy accomplishment!

Congratulations, Deanna

Deanna and Sunny had their second son on December 10, 2010: Logan Spiros Paine was born at a healthy 8lbs 11 ounces, a brother to Jackson.

Deanna's Farewell Dinner

We gathered at Jasmine's Restaurant to say farewell to Deanna as she moves on to the next phase of her life.
